I hope you all had a happy Valentine's day! Greg and I decided not to buy each other anything this year. We decided to make the day more about showing each other and our children how much we love them and appreciate what they bring to our family. The day started with the traditional pink pancakes and the kids sneaking chocolate before school. The older two had fun in their classes exchanging valentines and the younger ones helped me make pink cookies. It was a new recipe and not one of the best, so they were unceremoniously thrown away on Friday. The kids thought it was so fun to eat our steak dinner by candlelight that night. Ah, to be so easily amused again.
Teeth seem to be on the brain here. Rachel finally cut her first two this week, and Elise lost her first one on Friday! She is so excited to have a huge hole in her bottom row of teeth. Now she is a big girl like Hailey, she says. I can already see the orthodontic bill for her.......
Greg and I had so much fun last night. We dropped the kids off at his parents and went on a real date! Shocking, I know. His good friend Jason and his wife Amy were asked to DJ a couples dance down in Mapleton and asked us to come. We thought it was just going to be something to do that didn't cost anything, but we ended up having a great time! We couldn't remember the last time we'd been to a dance, and we had fun gettin' our groove on again. At the end we even got to dance to 'our' song, which is rare, since we only hear it on our iPod's. (It's "Come What May", from Moulin Rouge.) And to make it even better, the older four slept over at Grandma and Grandpa's! It was very quiet here this morning. After Rachel went back down for her morning nap, we both did too. It was divine. (Sleep is a precious commodity here.)
Since November, Trent has been so excited to go to the Monster Jam Truck show with Greg. Today was the big day. We even made a neon green poster that said "Grave Digger RULES!", complete with red flames at the bottom. Alas, after 30 minutes with ear plugs in, it was too much for Trent. He has always had sensitive hearing, and we warned him it would be loud, but he was so excited he said he's be fine. Yeah, that was $30 flushed down the toilet! But we're not bitter or anything.
