Desmond

Words cannot describe how good LOST was last night. When it was done, it felt like 20 minutes had passed, not an entire hour. Such an amazing episode, such good storytelling.

Desmond talked to Penny! Was anyone else in tears? I was. We got so many little answers: The Black Rock's Captain was named Hanso, Penny's dad bought the journal at auction, we understood a little bit about the time-lapse around the island and that electromagnetic material has something to do with it. To anyone that doesn't watch it, I'm sorry, this post must sound crazy to you. But to those of you that do watch, you'll understand when I say I'm still trying to wrap my brain around everything that happened. I can't wait for next week!

She's getting so big!

Our Rachel is growing everyday. She can now say "mama" and "dada" and lots of other things only she and the dog seem to understand. She claps when we say "Yay!" (which is quite often), and raises her arms to show she's SO BIG. She loves to play peek-a-boo and gets so excited whenever her Daddy comes home. She thoroughly enjoys her teething cookies, as you can tell from the picture. And she gives the best, slobbery kisses. What a doll. But we're not biased. If she slept, she would be the perfect baby.

After telling you how wonderful she is, I'll let you know something: She has made this mom extremely worn out today, only taking 3 half-hour naps, the entire day. I've let her stay in her crib a lot, hoping she'll go back to sleep, but she'll have none of it. I did all the research long ago and I don't put her to bed with a bottle or let her fall asleep while eating and I'm doing everything the so-called 'experts' have told me to. I sound grumpy, huh? Sorry. The kids are having fish sticks and Greg is getting left-overs for dinner, so that should tell you how tired I am. (Fish sticks are reserved for the nights that I really don't want to cook.) If I serve a veggie with them, it's OK, right???

It Keeps Getting Better and Better

I haven't posted about LOST the last few weeks. I didn't watch last week's until Monday and was so shocked that I needed a few days to get it clear in my mind. And then after last night's shocker of an ending, I am almost speechless.
First, last weeks episode about Sayid had me so sad thinking that he had turned into a hit man and was now evil. I think it was important that they showed how much respect he had for Naomi and wanting to treat her body with respect after she was killed. There has to be an important reason that he's killing these people, since he has struggled so much with his violent past. And they are obviously connected to Oceanic. When he was in the rec room and said "The minute I trust him [Ben] is the minute I will have sold my soul.", I was afraid he would owe Ben for something. But it was still such a shock to see him at the end!
So this week, when Kate said she had a son, Greg and I looked at each other and said "That's what she meant when she told Jack he'll wonder where I am." It was her son, not Sawyer. For most of the show I thought Sawyer was the father and Greg thought it was Jack's. We thought she would be pregnant and therefore want to get off the island because of all of the pregnant women dying. (Why would she want to go back if she was going to be put on trial?) When I saw the boy had blond hair I said "I was right!" and I waited for her to call him James. But then came the huge shocker: she called him Aaron! I yelled "WHAT?!" Where is Claire?
We now know what the Oceanic 6 told everyone: the plane crashed in the water, 8 survived the crash, but 2 died later. Kate was the hero that gave everyone first aid and took care of everyone, almost starving. Hmmm..... I thought that was Jack?
And why do these new people want Ben so much? How in the world can he get $3.2 million in a week? And that secret room behind the bookcase, with all of those passports has me very confused.
Does anyone know what happened to all of the other 'others'? The Australian stewardess, the kids, the spanish guy that never aged? The last I remember of them was Ben leaving them behind when Locke forced him take him to Jacob's cabin. Did we miss something?
We love this show!

For Clarification

After the last post about Monster Trucks, and Greg's description of the crowd on Saturday, I thought I should make a few things clear: We are not white tank top-wearing, Nascar-loving, mullett-sporting, trailer-living white trash. We just have a 7 year old boy that loves big trucks. Just wanted to clear that up.

Check out my Slide Show!

V-Day, teeth, dancing and trucks

I hope you all had a happy Valentine's day! Greg and I decided not to buy each other anything this year. We decided to make the day more about showing each other and our children how much we love them and appreciate what they bring to our family. The day started with the traditional pink pancakes and the kids sneaking chocolate before school. The older two had fun in their classes exchanging valentines and the younger ones helped me make pink cookies. It was a new recipe and not one of the best, so they were unceremoniously thrown away on Friday. The kids thought it was so fun to eat our steak dinner by candlelight that night. Ah, to be so easily amused again.

Teeth seem to be on the brain here. Rachel finally cut her first two this week, and Elise lost her first one on Friday! She is so excited to have a huge hole in her bottom row of teeth. Now she is a big girl like Hailey, she says. I can already see the orthodontic bill for her.......

Greg and I had so much fun last night. We dropped the kids off at his parents and went on a real date! Shocking, I know. His good friend Jason and his wife Amy were asked to DJ a couples dance down in Mapleton and asked us to come. We thought it was just going to be something to do that didn't cost anything, but we ended up having a great time! We couldn't remember the last time we'd been to a dance, and we had fun gettin' our groove on again. At the end we even got to dance to 'our' song, which is rare, since we only hear it on our iPod's. (It's "Come What May", from Moulin Rouge.) And to make it even better, the older four slept over at Grandma and Grandpa's! It was very quiet here this morning. After Rachel went back down for her morning nap, we both did too. It was divine. (Sleep is a precious commodity here.)

Since November, Trent has been so excited to go to the Monster Jam Truck show with Greg. Today was the big day. We even made a neon green poster that said "Grave Digger RULES!", complete with red flames at the bottom. Alas, after 30 minutes with ear plugs in, it was too much for Trent. He has always had sensitive hearing, and we warned him it would be loud, but he was so excited he said he's be fine. Yeah, that was $30 flushed down the toilet! But we're not bitter or anything.

My husband rocks!

Since it's Valentine's Day tomorrow, I thought I would write about my amazing husband. Those of you that know Greg know how lucky I am. I could not have married a better man for me. He has the best sense of humor and I am so grateful for that. I totally underestimated how important it is to marry someone that makes you laugh. And you know we do a lot of that around here! He listens to me and helps me see things in a different light if I need to. He supports me and wants me to be happy. What more could a girl ask for?

He is such a great dad. My kids are so blessed to have him as their father. He stayed up so late last night working on a story for Trent to tell at his Storytelling Festival. It is so funny! The kids know they can go to him with any problem and he will do all he can to help them. They can also be guaranteed of some teasing every day. He loves to make up silly rhyming songs about whatever has happened to one of them that day.

He puts up with so much from me. I am a true woman in the fact that one minute I am fine and the next I am ticked off. He calls this "flipping the switch". But he takes it in stride and does what he can to help me feel better. He also has to put up with a lot of huffing. Yes, I tend to huff when things aren't good. He says if he were a doctor, he would remove my huffer.

I could not be happier with the choice I made to buy a date with Greg at that auction. It has led to an amazing life and one I am so happy to share with him.

House full of sickies

Well, we've had better weeks here at the Poulton house. The three little ones have had runny noses for a few weeks, which is nothing new, but it's gotten worse. On Tuesday, I had the stomach flu. And now Hailey has a sinus infection, with it's headaches and fevers. She is pretty miserable, poor thing. So excuse me for not having more informative posts this week, but life has been a little crazy here. Hopefully after this weekend we'll all be feeling better. (Fingers crossed).

Color Girl

I am a little freaked out right now. I found this link on my friend Christie's blog and took the quiz. It is me to a T! See for yourself....

You Are A Blue Girl

Relationships and feelings are the most important things to you.

You are empathetic and accepting - and good at avoiding conflict.

If someone close to you is in pain, it makes you hurt as well.

You try to heal the ones you love with your kind and open heart.

Super Bowl commercials

We watched the game last night at Greg's parents house. We don't follow football as much since we moved here to Utah, but we were happy the Giants won. (We tend to root for the underdog.) As soon as we walked in the door last night, Hailey announced to everyone, "I'm only here for the commercials!", which of course had all of the adults laughing. Here are our favorites:

We've gotten LOST

After months of nervous anticipation, LOST finally premiered last night! To say Greg was giddy all day would be an understatement. He was counting down the minutes. But who can blame him? It was a very satisfying and sad episode. Satisfying, because we got a little glimpse of the future and it left us with many questions. Sad, because everyone found out Charlie died; and yes, I shed a tear. (He was my favorite character and I literally bawled during the season finale last year. But I had just given birth to Rachel, so it might have been the hormones.) We've found ourselves walking around calling each other 'Brother' all day.

So...what are your theories? Who are the other three of the Oceanic 6 that we don't know? Who is Kate with? Who are these so called Rescuers?

I think that the episode that aired last night took place before the season finale "Through the Looking Glass". When Jack went to see Hurley, he said he was thinking of growing a beard, he was doing consults, and he was happy to be home. Does that sound like the Jack we saw at the end of last season? Nope.

I'm not good at figuring out the big picture. But I have been good at guessing what will happen next with certain characters. Here is what I think is going to happen: Unfortunately, I think Hurley is going to kill himself. I really hope I am wrong. But I think that might be a catalyst for Jack loosing it. I don't think Kate is with Sawyer. I think that would be far too obvious. I think it might be someone we haven't met yet. That's all I've got so far. I vasilate on who I think the other three suvivors are. Part of me hopes it's Claire with little Aaron. And did you notice that the man visiting Hurley asked "Are they were still alive?" And Hurley was sorry he went with Locke. So many questions!!!! Let's hear what you have to say.

The story behind the Desmond picture. Greg's best friend Jim and his family were vacationing in Hawaii last spring. While walking out of a restaurant, Desmond walked in! They asked if they could get a photo and he bent down by the kids. They said he was very nice and yes, he has that awesome accent in real life!
